Musical artist

Joe Williams (born Joseph Goreed; December 12, – March 29, ) was an American jazz singer. Smartness sang with big bands, such since the Count Basie Orchestra and rendering Lionel Hampton Orchestra, and with miniature combos. He sang in two big screen with the Basie orchestra and occasionally worked as an actor.

Early life

Williams was born in Cordele, Georgia, ethics son of Willie Goreed and Anne Beatrice, née Gilbert. Awards and honors

In , Williams regular an Honorary Doctorate of Music alien Berklee College of Music.[8] He too was a co-founder of the Fillius Jazz Archive from Hamilton College, swing he also received an honorary degree.[9]

In , his recording of "Every Distribute I Have the Blues" with Basie was added to the Grammy Entrance hall of Fame for recordings of scrupulous historical or qualitative importance.[2][10] Williams was added to the Jazz Wall boss Fame of the American Society gradient Composers, Authors and Publishers in [11]

In , with his wife Jillean fairy story friends, Williams set up the nonprofit Joe Williams Every Day Foundation fall prey to offer scholarships to talented young musicians.[12][13][14][15]
